I had trouble with getting these books to work. Since I was very tidy and threw all the packaging away, I can't return. We have ~15 other books that work great. My husband noticed that the books that worked all had round magnets in them. The books that were not working had rectangular magnets. These rectangular magnets hit the binding on the last page of the book and I don't think they register correctly. Since I was stuck with the books, I tried "binding surgery". Very carefully, I took the binding off and re-wrapped it so that the bar part of the binding was on the outside of the book. Magically, the book now worked. I did all three of the books and they all work now. Be careful taking the book apart and reforming the binding.

I have many other Story Reader Books and they all work fine.....these three do not work (sometimes the last page will work). It is clearly a manufacturing defect - the magnets on these books are different than every other books. I have requested a replacement - we shall see if they work.

I should have listened to other people. These do not work. My husband got one of them to work by lining the book perfectly up at the top. Try telling a 3 year old to do that! Very disppointed in product and that you cannot find them any where else to purchase!

My hats off to the reviewer who shared a way to fix these books with the binding. My only addition to this person's fix is to somehow clip the whole book together (except the back cover) before taking apart the book because once the binding is off the magnets in each page force the pages to scatter, making the whole process longer by having to replace each page one by one.
This is great collection of some of my child's favorites, and I really wish the publishers/makers had not released this faulty product. It's blatant when all the other stories have circle magnets and these stories have rectangle magnets... I would think a little product testing would have informed them.
Overall my 3 year old loves her story reader and hopefully her little brother will too someday.
