5A good toddler book for an introduction to 'I Spy'Jan 26, 2010
By Dom's Mom
Recently, my 2.5 yr old have been playing 'I Spy' around the house and coincidently he received this book for Christmas. The objects in this book are simple for a toddler/preschooler to grasp. This book keeps him captivated for a good period of time and gets him thinking. I would recommend this look and find book to any young child as an introductory book to the 'I Spy' concept. Amazon is recommending 9-12 yrs old for this book, which is way too old. I would think 2-5 yrs old is more appropriate.

5Our 2-year-old son loves this bookOct 04, 2010

This is not a story book, it is an interactive book ("do you see ...?" "there it is!" "what else do you see?").

In addition to the fact that our son loves reading it, I like:
* that it introduces him to various situations (first day at school, dentist office, swimming lessons, etc.)
* the suggestions at the end for other ways you can use the pictures to teach size, spatial relations, etc.

I will buy this book as a gift for other 2-3-year-olds.

5Daughter is 2 & loves it! : )Apr 08, 2010

My daughter is 2 & loves this book. Of course, having Elmo in it helps! She likes to find the items & have us find them too! Good learning book.

I bought this book for my son from Kohls for a few dollars more. (Impulse buy- I should have got it from Amazon shame on me). My son adores Elmo (21 months) and he loves the book. I also like that the back pages give you more ideas on how to go through the book. For example, instead of just asking your child to find the objects that the page suggest, you can go through and count how many of each objects there are etc. He loves it! The first page, Elmo is located in the bathroom. Instead of asking where's the toothbrush or toothpaste, I'll ask him where do you brush your teeth (and he'll point to the sink) So there's just so much that this book helps teach your child. I love it and actually got my boss to buy him the other Elmo- I can do it book. Its a great investment!!!

We started reading this with my son when he was barely a year old... he is now almost 3 and still likes it (although others have replaced it as favorite status). It served us quite well and I am sure it will again with our second son who is due in a few months!
