Ouch! We need to go to the doctor after reading this book!Aug 07, 2011
By Dingo Delivery Okay, if I were to review this on how much my four year old enjoys the book, I would give it 5 stars. She spent much of the day reading it and begging to have it read to her. You insert the syringe and thermometer into the appropriate hole at the appropriate time. You use the reflex hammer and hit the blue circle at the appropriate time. You also push buttons at their appropriate times, so it's got a little bit more interaction than your regular push a button noise book. My daughter has loved it all day. The problem we've had is that there are big cut outs in each page (where the tools and sound bar are). The cut outs are sharp. My daughter has gotten 2 paper cuts today. I've gotten 3. I can deal with them, but I have a child with a low pain tolerance and 2 paper cuts are enough to do her in. So, I have a child that loves a book that causes her pain. I'm going to try to sand it down. Hopefully it works because it is a good little interaction book.
As far as content, Elmo is going to the doctor for a "well visit." Elmo is excited to show the doctor the tools in his new doctor's kit. The next scene, he is in the waiting room coloring. The nurse then calls his name. She takes his temperature and measures him. The doctor comes in and checks him from head to toe. The doctor looks at his chart and tells him he is due for a shot. Elmo is brave. It's now Elmo's turn to give his "Baby Dave" a check up. I actually bought the book for my 2 year old who doesn't seem to care for the doctor right now (screams as soon as he comes near her). We have other doctor books, but this one is Elmo and she's into Elmo right now. Hope it works... If her older sister will give it up.
