Books need help to workJan 04, 2010

Books as packaged did not work. Since I was very tidy and threw all the packaging away, I can't return. We have ~15 other books that work great. My husband noticed that the books that worked all had round magnets in them. The books that were not working had rectangular magnets. These rectangular magnets hit the binding on the last page of the book and I don't think they register correctly. Since I was stuck with the books, I tried "binding surgery". Very carefully, I took the binding off and re-wrapped it so that the bar part of the binding was on the outside of the book. Magically, the book now worked. I did all three of the Princess books and they all work. Be careful taking the book apart and reforming the binding.

Easy fix for these booksMar 21, 2010

These books didn't work for us either. None of them, so my first thought was it was a messed up cartridge. However after reading one of the reviews I realized, that it was the binder that was getting on the way (it's much tighter than on other books we own). I just did what other lady suggested. Took the binder off (the black spring that holds pages together) by loosing it at first. Then you will have to rebind the book just so the part where the hooks are touching each other (you will have to open the book to see what I mean) is now on the outer side of the book (the original binding would have that "bar" inside in between the two last pages). I also didn't tight it too much. Perhaps just losing the binder would do the trick as well.

My 4 year old boy received this as a gift for his birthday. He absolutely loves it. He uses it while I am making dinner or in the shower. I am buying more books and the headphones to take on a long plane ride. I can't say enough good things about this toy.

I ordered these books for my 2 yr old and she loves them. They work perfectly in our story reader and keep her entertained on long car trips and airplane rides.

I saw all of the reviews that said these don't work. The price was so good that I thought I'd try it out anyway. I thought maybe the kinks had been worked out. (Ordered in Jan of 2010) NONE of the books worked. I ordered another set at the same time and all of the books worked just fine, so it really must just be this set.
