How Me Reader Works

The Me Reader is a 4.5x6-inch electronic pad that reads out loud each of eight Disney Classics storybooks. The reading pad is compatible only with the storybooks included in the set. The Me Reader system is recommended for children ages 3 years and older.
The device is simple to work. To begin, children select one of the eight storybook buttons on the Me Reader, which is made of sturdy hard plastic. Next, they find the storybook they have selected, open to the first page of the story, and press a "Read Story" button on the pad to activate the narrator's voice. Each time they turn a page, children again press a "Read Story" button to continue hearing the story. Kids know which "Read Story" button to press by matching those on the pad with those in the storybook.

I bought this for my 8-year old Autistic son who is at a 1st grade reading level. He loves this set of books.
Getting back to basics: this set comes with a very easy-to-use handheld device that recites the stories. A chime indicates to the reader that it is time to turn the page. On each page is a symbol that tells the child which coordinated symbol to press on the handheld to hear the audio for that page. This permits the child to take their time turning the page and not to panic if they haven't turned the page quick enough to keep up with the audio.
No over-complicated buttons, lights, and menus. Very simple. My son sits and listens along through the entire library. Then, he starts over again and reads each book indipendently.
I strongly recommend this set for children that have just started learning to read, or are still developing reading skills.

I ordered the Disney Classic Story Reader for my Granson's third Birthday and he just loved it! I had never seen the product before and was amazed at how easy it was for him to handle and operate. I remember as a kid, using a cassettee player with books on it and it rang a bell when you had to turn the page. Same principal but the little player is as small as a cell phone. Awesome product . . . will look for more to purchase for him (and others)!

This is an excellent learning tool. Little ones can have some quiet time "reading" with the reading set. The stories are complete,
yet they are short enough to keep little children interested. The pictures are very well done, Disney of course. There is enough
interactive challenges without anything frustrating for a child. Great item.

This reader arrived quickly and packaged well. This is a GREAT product. Our 2 year old granddaughter can listen to books totally independently if she chooses to do so. Well constructed and good book size for little hands. I highly recommend this product.

We own both of the Disney Story Readers and our 3 year old daughter LOVES them!
I was pleasantly surprised by how this operates. You choose the button of the book you are reading. Then as you turn the pages through the book, there are corresponding shapes/colors that match the buttons, and you press the corresponding button to read the page. It automatically will shut itself off after sitting for a bit, so no need to worry about forgetting to turn it off.
The books are well done as far as abbreviating favorite Disney stories and put a positive spin on them. No parts that could scare a child, like the villains/tough lessons may do in the movies. And the artwork is fantastic - no replicas or changes to the characters you know and love.
If you love Disney like we do, you will love these books.
