 Great book and helpful for learning.Jan 20, 2012

We received this book yesterday. I've been so excited to work on it w/ my kids since their really enjoying animals (they are 1yr old and 2yrs old). Anyhow I think it's great and if your use to the other Eric Carle books your kids will recognize the animals right away. If the batteries stopped like the previous reviewer my kids wouldn't be happy. So let's hope that doesn't happen.

"Napa Valley Trading"
This is another great book from the art of Eric Carle, and the addition of sounds are fun. Each little animal button has its own animal sound, and matches a picture in the book. I used it to look at the book with a 2-1/2 year old and he had fun finding and matching, pushing the animals to make the sounds, and overall enjoy it with AND without me.

'Around the Farm' is an exceptional book for both toddlers, and for children who are in the early stages of developing their reading skills. My 4 year old son will (with some assistance and coaching) read the short sentences that describe the animals, and then press the corresponding buttons to hear the sounds that the animals make. Moreover, along with cows, horses, and pigs, there are some less conventional animals, (such as turkeys, crows, and woodpeckers), that are also covered in the book, thus adding to its unique dynamic.
In a nutshell, 'Around the Farm' is a fun interactive book that is enjoyable for both parents and their young children. The colorful and very stylistic artwork of Eric Carle, combined with the audio enhancements, makes this a good book to add to your child's collection.
One reviewer has made reference to the battery operated mechanism of the book malfunctioning. We've had our copy of this book for a few months and, so far, this has not been a problem.

This is a wonderful farm animal book! I have purchased it for my own daughter, my nephew, and many friends. Everyone I buy it for loves it! My daughter is only 7 months old and she already has learned to press the buttons and enjoys hearing the animal noises. If your child likes farm animals this is a must buy!!

Darling book. My daughter loves animals, and Eric Carle is awesome. But we've barely had it for a couple of months, and the buttons no longer work. No sound. It was not used excessively or even every day. We're going to try replacing the "long-life" batteries (according to text on the back) included in the book, but it takes 3, and each battery is over $4. Also, I'm used to kids' toys with battery compartment being difficult to get into, but we have all the teeny types of screwdrivers, and I haven't yet been successful in removing the top. Pretty much of a bummer purchase.
